In a flourishing digital age ruled by social media, the nation’s largest home builders are using online platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube to attract potential clients. The top 50 builders on social media have the highest engagement rates and cross-channel followings and are led by popular names like Lennar, Toll Brothers, and David Weekley Homes, according to Construct Utopia.
Lennar has taken over Facebook with an audience of over 1.3 million, while David Weekley Homes leads Instagram with 247,000 followers. In the Twitter space, Habitat is on top with over 1 million followers, and Toll Brothers is tallying the most subscribers on YouTube with over 58,000 regular viewers.
Toll Brothers and Beazer Homes are most active on social media platforms, while David Weekley Homes and Lennar garner the highest per-post engagement rate, according to Draper DNA’s 2021 Top 50 Builders on Social Media report.
“Social media is basically made for the home and building market: it’s visual, it encourages engagement, and it gives builders a way to truly interact with homeowners,” wrote the report’s authors. “We wanted to find out which builders are killing it when it comes to social—but not just in terms of audience size. In fact, we found that often, companies with the biggest follower base had lower engagement rates.”
