The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) this week announced two qualified teams have been selected to compete for the contract to design and construct Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements along state roadways in central Missouri.

The purpose of this project is to complete the current MoDOT ADA Transition plan in 19 counties in the Central and Northwest Districts, bringing dozens of locations into ADA compliance. The cost of the work is estimated to be around $23.1 million, according to a press release.

“We are very pleased with the interest we received in joining us to work on the MidMO ADA project. The two short-listed teams are both very experienced and capable of producing a successful project,” Project Director Chris Brownell said in a statement. “We look forward to moving forward in the process and selecting the final design-build team.”

The following teams were selected to further develop their proposals on the project:

  • MidMO ADA Partners Team – Bartlett & West; Sam Gaines Construction, Inc.; Concrete Solutions, LLC; Aplex, Inc.; JD Bishop Construction, Inc.; Civil Design, Inc.
  • Lehman-Wilson Team – Lehman Construction, LLC; Wilson & Company, LLC; HG Consult, Inc.; Merge Midwest; VSM; McClure Engineering; SCM Construction; Central Missouri Professional Services

Design-build projects combine both the design and construction phases into one contract. The selected team completes the design and construction in parallel instead of in succession. MoDOT provides the project goals, budget and schedule, and the contractor team conducts the work.
